UAE Refutes Reports of Travel Ban on Nigerians

The United Arab Emirates Embassy, Abuja has released a statement denying placing a travel ban on Nigerian passport holders.

A report had trended on social media earlier in the week stating that Nigerian passport holders have been banned from applying or renewing their UAE visas. Some of the reports claimed this is a fallout of the arrest of Celebrity fraudster, Raymond Igbalode aka Hushpuppi and his other Nigerian accomplices for cybercrime activities in Dubai.

However, the statement released yesterday, 6th August 2020 has denied that report stating that, “travel between the UA and Nigeria has remained limited due to the closure of Nigerian airspace, and the UAE embassy in Abuja continues to work closely with the Nigerian government to obtain necessary approvals to facilitate travels between both countries”.

The statement was released via it’s official Twitter handle, @UAEEmbassyNGR
