Twelve Air France Crew Members Freed From Bamako Hotel Siege

Air France has said all 12 of its crew members have escaped the Mali hotel siege and are now “safe and sound”.

At least three people have been killed as gunmen throwing grenades seized 170 hostages at Radsson Blu Hotel Bamako. The hotel is located 5 km from both The National Museum of Malí and the Grand Mosque of Bamako.

As a precaution, Air France flights from and to Bamako for Friday have been cancelled, it added.

The attackers are still said to be inside with a witness telling Reuters: “We’re hearing gunfire from time to time.”

The attackers seized staff and guests at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bamako.

A Malian forces operation has freed some hostages, although more than 130 people are said to remain inside. CNN reports rescue mission is underway with assistance from US special forces.
