The patient, who arrived in Dallas from Liberia, is believed to have flown United Airlines from Brussels to Washington Dulles on Flight 951 and Washington Dulles to Dallas-Fort Worth on Flight 822.

The US Centres for Disease Control & Prevention, however, were quick to point out there is “zero” risk to other passengers on the flights, as the patient only began to display symptoms of the disease in the days following his arrival.

Despite the assurances, airline stocks closed down earlier as investors fretted passengers may stay home until the panic passes.

“We are ensuring our employees have this information and suggest that any customers who have concerns contact the experts at the CDC for further information,” United said, noting that it was not required to divulge the information.

The patient, identified as Thomas Eric Duncan by CBS Dallas station KTVT, left Monrovia, Liberia, on September 19th aboard a Brussels Airlines jet to the Belgian capital, according to a Belgian official.

After another layover of nearly three hours, he then flew Flight 822 from Dulles to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, the airline confirmed.
