Arik Air Adds Dubai To List of International Routes

Arik Air will start flying to the glitzy city of Dubai from July 28th, 2014. The interesting development was made known on Wednesday, 4th June by the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Michael Arumemi-Ikhide in a statement signed by the company’s spokesman, Mr Adebanji Ola.

Arumemi-Ikhide said that the new route would operate five flights weekly with travelling from Nigeria on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and returning from Dubai on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

He explained that the route would be operated by an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, adding that the aircraft would offer a two class configuration with 30 Premier Business Class seats and 187 Economy Class seats.

“Outbound flights will depart from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at 7.05 p.m. and arrive at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at 8.20 p.m.

“The flight will then continue on to Dubai, departing Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at 9.50 p.m. finally arriving at Dubai International Airport, Dubai (local time) at 7.20 p.m.

“The inbound flight will depart Dubai at 10.30 a.m. (local time) and arrives in Abuja at 2.30 p.m.

”The flight continues on to Lagos, leaving Abuja at 4.00 p.m. and arriving in Lagos at 5.15 p.m.,” he said.

Arumemi-Ikhide said that the aircraft was environmental friendly product that provided comfort for the passengers.

The airline which has Lagos as its hub already plies West African regional cities of Accra, Monrovia, Banjul, Freetown, Dakar, Douala and Cotonou. The fast growing airline also operates flights to Johannesburg, Luanda, London and a non-stop flight to New York.

    This is a good one. Maybe this will force Emirates to crash their ridiculous fares!
