Delta Defends Removal of ‘YouTube Star’ From New York Bound Flight

YouTube star Adam Saleh was ejected from a Delta Airline flight at Heathrow Airport this week – but the reasons for his removal are under dispute.

Saleh claims he and his travelling companion were kicked off the London-to-New York flight after he spoke to his mother in Arabic over the telephone.

“This lady screamed, ‘what is he saying?’ and said she felt uncomfortable,” Saleh said.

“The captain came and asked what happened.

“I was so disgusted I took a video as I was being asked to leave.”

Saleh is a serial prankster who frequently makes YouTube videos in which he pull stunts on flights. His YouTube channel features films in which conducts ‘experiments’ to determine how passengers will respond to travelling alongside Muslims and people speaking Arabic.

Delta Airlines was recently embroiled in controversy over another incident. In October a black doctor, Tamika Cross,  who tried to help a patient who had fallen unwell on an internal US flight, reported that her credentials were questioned by a Delta crew member, who told her: “Oh no sweetie, put your hand down, we are looking for actual physicians.”

When Dr Cross insisted she was a doctor, the crew member reportedly said: “Let me see your credentials. What type of doctor are you? Where do you work? Why were you in Detroit?'”

The crew ultimately found a white, male doctor to help.

However, in reference to the Saleh case, Delta has issued a statement defending the removal of the two men from the flight, saying: “Upon landing, the crew was debriefed and multiple passenger statements collected. Based on the information collected to date, it appears the customers who were removed sought to disrupt the cabin with provocative behaviour, including shouting. This type of conduct is not welcome on any Delta flight.”

“While one, according to media reports, is a known prankster who was video-recorded and encouraged by his travelling companion, what is paramount to Delta is the safety and comfort of our passengers and employees. It is clear these individuals sought to violate that priority.”

Mr Saleh released another statement accusing Delta of lying, saying: “Delta has been called out previously for racial matters. What they did was wrong and we deserve to speak up about this and not let this happen again.”

Meanwhile, a person claiming to have been a passenger on the flight posted his account of the incident to Reddit. His story differs greatly to the one presented by Mr Saleh.
